Growing old gracefully is a textbased installation/performance on political architecture and the history of West. The materials used are quotes said by Americans and Dutch people in the time period after WWII, in relation to the building of the embassy (1959) and the purpose of it. Inspired by the collision of the ‘rule’ that an architect has to take into account the culture, style and traditions of the place they’re designing for and the Americans shielding themselves (in the spirit of security), making it hard to get into resonance with the environment.
